Y'all ain't even ready to hear what I had for breakfast this morning: an eggs benny sandwich with Hollandaise dipping sauce and a shredded potato pancake.

YEAH. I said it. It's your standard Eggs Benny sandwiched between two thick slices of homemade bread (your choice of white, whole wheat or multigrain - no less!) and a bowl of some of the tastiest Hollandaise I've found in the past few months. All tucked away in an unassuming, down-home diner in Port Williams - a quick drive from downtown Wolfville! More people need to know about this!

Four tables covered in business cards of diners-gone-by are set up in a space about the size of a loading elevator surrounded by antiques and collectibles of all kinds including a very important sign: 'Patience required as good food takes time to prepare.' Why so important? Well, there's only one person cooking back there. ONE. If she doesn't make it, you're not eating it. It makes for consistently hearty and satisfying meals, but it does increase your wait time.

Portions are HUGE (actually, the burgers border on obscene...), everything is made fresh on site, and the prices are more than affordable considering what you get! And on that note, hit up an ATM at the corner store next door since it's all cash only!

Great little spot I've had the one pound hamburger it's no joke! Be ready she's a big one, take you're time and go slow with this one.  Little bit of a wait but they also had to cook a lb a beef probably not a thing you would want to rush. But all around good spot drop by if you're around for sure.

Great little hole in the wall place in Port Williams. The sign on the wall states: Patience required as good food takes time to prepare. That says it all. It is small and cozy. Even when it was only half full we overhead the waitress welcoming new customers with "We will get to you as soon as we can". The waits weren't long, and the food was great! I rediscovered the origins of hash browns in their culturally authentic Acadian grated potato pancakes - the size of a Frisbee. Crunchy on the outside and soft inside. Lots of potato flavour!

The middle sized breakfast was huge - eggs, bacon, home fries and great homemade bread. Annnd - one can substitute the potato pancakes for home fries!!!!

Unfortunately it can't get a 5 star because they were seen reusing the homemade jam from the individual servings - scrape the top, smooth it out and add more to the top. As much as I encourage good economics of not throwing out tons of jam - this isn't a great practise:-(

So, I leave it to your judgement - food great, space small, cash only and great prices. I hope they survive and thrive in Port Williams.

This spot in the valley was suggested to me on a trip down to see the sig. others folks.

We stopped in for lunch.. it's on the main stretch in Port Williams and so parking is across in a lot.

You walk into a small little store front restaurant with a few tables with an interesting table covering. It's a plastic table cover with any and every business card, library card, student ID, coupon and ticket that people who visited the bistro previously, had left behind. Pretty clever inexpensive little idea that gives you plenty to discover and laugh about.

I came for the.. you guessed it, burger.

A huge burger (that they warn you is a full helping before they seal your fate) comes and if you weren't sure it was going to be hot and ready for you, the steam pouring off it will convince you.

Sadly I didn't wait long enough and instantly burned my mouth. The burger wasn't terribly special. A steamed beef patty with no seasoning was saved only by the fresh toppings and croissant style bun surrounding it.

It was also a great price for the amount of food you got.

A good little stop in spot for a bite to eat, but I don't know if I will venture out of Halifax for the burger specifically.

The breakfasts were good, but they took so long to arrive!! The place is tiny and is very easily crowded. The kitchen does say that it good food takes time, but I think this took longer than necessary. My partner and I each got the breakfast plate with eggs, ham, toast and home fries. I had been leaning towards having a sandwich but the waitress couldn't tell me what vegetables were in the veggie sandwich, and they were out of roast beef. The sandwiches don't come with anything on the side and I had been aching for a salad. We did see another customer order some sandwiches and they were truly enormous.
